Elliott Metal is born of many worlds: of burning metal and rubber, of retro cars and Brutalist sensibilities. Behind the hammer and torch is New Zealand born silversmith Gabe Elliott.
Each piece Elliott creates is made as homage to certain moments in life. From commemorating formative films, their characters, musicians or indeed more personal memories, each design is named and infused with a particular reverence for the past.
Having been surrounded by the world of machinery since a young age, the workshop has always been a point of return and inspiration. While there is a conventional type of masculinity imbued into all of Elliott’s creations, they are also pieces tempered with quiet elegance; silver floating in a modern unisex space, one that resists the notions of prettiness and banal simplicity.
Worn with and for the body, Elliott traces disparate histories which have inspired her & merges them with the present, all of which collide on the body – a place to transport her energy that embodies and speaks to aesthetic values which are undoubtedly modern and relevant to those who exist in the contemporary.
